P. Kaladharan

Dr. P. Kaladharan, the Secretary of CEATECH, is a distinguished researcher with extensive experience in the environmental impact assessment of aquatic ecosystems. He formerly served as Principal Scientist and Head of the FEM Division at ICAR-CMFRI. With a strong background in various aspects of environmental science, Dr. Kaladharan has made significant contributions to the field. His research expertise includes environmental impact assessment, where he specialises in evaluating the effects of various factors on aquatic ecosystems. He is also an expert in open sea farming, focusing on seaweed farming as an alternative livelihood and a method for mitigating climate change impacts. His work in pollution monitoring encompasses primary productivity and coastal pollution, with strategies aimed at reducing aquatic pollution through biological interventions.

In addition to his work in pollution monitoring, Dr. Kaladharan is dedicated to the restoration of seagrass meadows to enhance blue carbon sinks and sustain coastal fisheries. He conducts assessments of blue carbon stocks in mangroves and seagrass meadows along coastal regions, contributing to the understanding and preservation of these critical habitats. He is a Life Member of the Marine Biological Association of India, Kochi, the Society of Fisheries Technologists of India, Kochi, and the Seaweed Research and Utilisation Association, India. He serves as a research guide at Mangalore University, Cochin University of Science and Technology, and the Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai (Deemed University).

With 227 research papers to his name, Dr. Kaladharan's extensive body of work is widely recognised. His contributions to environmental science and his dedication to advancing research make him a valuable asset to CEATECH.
